The Community Support Centre is a structure integrated within the Complex for Social Services for Children and Families. Main priority in the work of the specialized team is prevention of abandonment, deviation in behavior, violence. Services for children at risk in the community as well as children in families are provided at the Centre.
It is a small center for temporary placement where short-term social services are provided in an environment close to the family one. The main priority of the service is to prevent child’s abandonment and to protect child’s right to keep his/her family relationships. The protection measure within the Unit gives a mother an opportunity to adapt, to feel and strengthen the bond to her own child.
Samaritan House Crises Center for children and women victims of abuse, trafficking or unsupported women
Samaritans house provides short-term social services within the community in an environment close to the family one. The services are developed for children up to 18 years and women victims of abuse, trafficking or unsupported women.
Sheltered Housing is a kind of social service meant to provide support and consultation of people above the age of 18 who are leaving institutions, transition or sheltered homes and are the stage to begin an independent life. It also intends to prevent their placement at a specialized institution. Services are based on social work at an individual level according to the specific needs of the person. A concept for providing long-term or short-term services is developed in terms of achieving the goals of the social service.
The goal of the Regional Foster Care Centre in Stara Zagora is to establish and develop a stable model of Foster Care at a regional level. Samaritans Organization and the British NGO ARK-Bulgaria have signed a partnership agreement in 2006 for Foster Care services development. Stara Zagora Municipality has been attracted for a partner as well and is continuing to support the foster care development nowadays.
A team for early psychosocial intervention works within Samaritans organization. Their uneasy task is to support families of children with extra support needs. The team consists of a psychologist, speech therapist, rehabilitation therapist and a social worker. The services provided are mainly for children with extra support needs aged 0 to 7 and the people looking after these children.
